21.12.2009 (mike) | Man City here to stay
Mark Hughes getting sacked this weekend, should send out alarm bells across the premiership as well as across Europe. Mark Hughes had done a steady if not spectacular job at the Eastlands this season. Just below the top 5, Man City looked to be in prime position to secure a top 6 place at least. However, that's not good enough for the Arab owners and the fact that they've ruthlessly removed Hughes shows the level of their ambition. They want Champons League football. They want trophies. They want to emulate their Manchester nieghbours. Given the money they have already spent and no doubt will spend in January and in the Summer, they will be a massive force to be reckond with. Money can't always buy instant success but as Mourinho showed a Chelsea a few years ago, it can definantly be done. And I for one won't bet against Manchester City becoming a force both at home and abroad. | | Date | Comments | |
